Rick Astley

Richard Paul Astley, (born 6 February 1966) is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. He was born in Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, England. Astley has also lived in Richmond, Surrey with his Danish girlfriend, Lene Bausager, and their daughter, Emilie.

In 2007 Rick Astley became the subject of a viral Internet meme in which 13 million Internet users were tricked into watching the video for Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" by posting it under the name of other popular video titles. The practice was known as Rickrolling.

When asked by the Los Angeles Times for his opinion on Rickrolling, Astley said "I think it's just one of those odd things where something gets picked up and people run with it, that's what's brilliant about the internet.
